Title:

Modelling Locomotion; From Continuous Environments to Hippocampal Neurons with the RatInABox Package

Abstract:

Generating synthetic locomotory and neural data is a crucial yet time consuming step commonly required to study theoretical models of the brain’s role in spatial navigation. In this talk, I'll present RatInABox, a lightweight and open-source Python toolkit designed to model realistic rodent locomotion and generate synthetic neural data from behavioural and environment-modulated cell types such as, but not limited to, place cells, grid cell, boundary vector cells and head direction cells in continuous one- or two-dimensional environments with configurable barriers and visual cues. RatInABox functionality includes to customisable cell types, data- or policy-controlled motion trajectories, deep learning and RL.
